Unknown Morph
Unknown morph is used for a spotted python, Antaresia maculosa, when no reliable morph identification or genetic history is available. The snake may be visually normal, unusually light or dark, or possibly carrying hidden recessive traits such as albino or caramel from past pairings. Because spotted python morph names can refer to both visible traits and heterozygous genetics, appearance alone is not enough to make strong claims.
For a pet owner, this label rarely affects care. Spotted pythons need a secure enclosure, suitable warm and cool zones, snug hides, and a simple rodent-based diet matched to their size. For breeders, an unknown morph should be treated as unproven stock; test breeding or documented parentage is needed before representing offspring as anything specific. When acquiring one, ask about feeding history, age, shedding, and temperament rather than paying for genetics that cannot be shown.
