Unknown Morph
An unknown morph African clawed frog is a Xenopus laevis whose color lineage was not recorded or cannot be confirmed. It may be a normal wild-type frog, a pale captive form, or a carrier of traits that are not obvious from appearance alone. Unknown is the clearest label when source notes, parentage, or colony records are missing.
Daily care is the same as for other African clawed frogs: a filtered aquatic enclosure, stable temperature, clean dechlorinated water, and a diet of suitable prepared or frozen foods. They should not be released outdoors, since Xenopus can establish feral populations and carry pathogens. For breeders, the honest unknown label protects buyers from assuming predictable morph results and encourages better record keeping in future pairings.
