Mixed Variety
Mixed variety betta is an informal label for domestic Betta splendens that are assorted, unregistered, or too blended to fit a single retail color or fin category. A mixed variety fish may be blue and white, black, copper, cambodian, butterfly, marble-influenced, or a combination of several traits, and its fin type may be short, veil, delta, crowntail, or something in between. The term is useful for pet shops and rescues, but it does not predict ancestry or breeding outcomes.
Choose a mixed variety betta as an individual fish rather than a named line. Look for intact fins, clear eyes, and an active feeding response. Care is the standard domestic betta setup, with warm water and gentle filtration. A secure lid matters, and bettas still need careful separation from rivals that might fight. Anyone breeding from a mixed variety should expect a wide spread of colors and fin shapes, so it is better suited to experienced hobby projects than attempts to reproduce a specific look.
