Rosetail
Rosetail betta is a high-branching fin form of domestic Betta splendens, usually developed from halfmoon lines. The caudal rays divide repeatedly so the tail edge forms soft folds and petal-like ruffles when the fish flares. Rosetail can occur in many colors, and it is a finnage description rather than a color variety. Very extreme versions are sometimes called feathertail, a term used when branching becomes even more frilled and irregular.
That extra finnage affects daily care. Rosetails do best in low-current tanks with smooth decor and easy resting places near the surface, because heavy fins can tire the fish or catch on rough edges. Ragged fins, fin biting, and poor spread are common buyer concerns, especially in overdone lines. Breeders who work with rosetail stock often favor moderate branching, strong bodies, and good swimming ability instead of the largest possible ruffle. A healthy rosetail should still be able to turn, feed, and rise for air without struggling.
