Holle Cropper
The Holle Cropper is a German cropper breed associated with Holle in Lower Saxony. It is part of the Central European pouter and cropper group, selected for an inflated crop, upright presentation, and a regional outline. The breed should be distinguished from taller English-style pouters and from small Brunner-type pouters by the standard used by German fanciers.
Holle Croppers should have enough room to inflate and court freely, with smooth perches and nest areas that do not bruise the crop. Breeders look for a well-shaped globe, sound body, correct stance, strong legs, fertility, and calm handling. Feed should keep birds muscular, not heavy. As with all croppers, function matters: a showy bird that cannot mate, breathe freely, or rear young is a poor breeding choice.
