A2 beta-casein is the A2 allele of the beta-casein gene (CSN2), a milk protein variant that cattle DNA tests report. Beta-casein alleles are codominant, so a cow with one A1 and one A2 copy makes both proteins in her milk. Some tests report the exact variant (A1, A2, B and others) and some report only the A1 or A2 group.
Each copy shows its own effect, so both can be seen together.
Variant tests report A1, A2, B, I and rarer variants, for example A2/B; group tests report only the A1 or A2 group, counting B, C, F and G with A1 and A3, I and others with A2. These rows record exact CSN2 variants A1, A2 and B. Record only copy counts identified by a variant-level report. Keep group-only results and unrepresented variants such as I in the linked test record; do not convert them to A1, A2 or B copies.
