Miniature HighPark

Miniature HighPark cattle are small-framed domestic cattle developed mainly from Highland and White Park or British White type stock, selected to keep a compact size while showing the shaggy coat, horns, and bold color patterns that make the group popular on small farms. The name is used in miniature-cattle circles rather than as an old closed herdbook breed, so animals may range from very Highland-influenced cattle with heavy hair to smoother white-bodied cattle with black, red, dun, or brindle points, brockle faces, belts, or roaning. They are kept for pasture appeal, small-scale beef, occasional family-milk use, and breeding programs that value docility and manageable size.

Care is still cattle care, not pet care. Mature height, frame depth, horn growth, and coat can vary widely, so buyers usually ask for parent measurements and clear registration or crossbreeding information. Long hair needs shade, airflow, and mud control in warm or wet climates, while horned animals need safe gates, chutes, and trailer room. A modest herd does best on good pasture or hay with mineral access, routine parasite and hoof management, and careful bull selection to avoid calving problems in small cows.
